Riggers Retreat - Why you should visit.

Founded by Lyn and Ian Rigby after the loss of their son, Fusilier Lee Rigby. Lyn’s own experience and that of her family is compelling evidence of need for this project, and it is to help other families in the same situation. Having found that there are a great many more families in similar need of such support, we decided that retreats like ours help the families in so many more ways than just a simple holiday.

Relaxing

Riggers Retreat is founded to help families get away from day-to-day stresses and hopefully enable families to gather and spend quality time together in a neutral surrounding.

Walkers Paradise

Dymchurch and the surrounding areas are surrounded by flat countryside that is well suited to walking and cycling.

Dymchurch Martello Tower

Dymchurch Martello Tower is a Martello tower in Dymchurch, Kent England. It stands immediately behind the sea wall. It has been designated by English Heritage as a scheduled monument and a Grade II listed building.

Steam Railway

There is also a narrow gauge steam railway, the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway providing nostalgic rides between the old cinque port of Hythe and Dungeness, stopping en route at Dymchurch station.

Eat and drink

Dymchurch has an abundance of options for all tastes and budgets. With the Michelin Restaurant Hide and Fox, being well reviewed.

Shopping

There’s lots of lovely independent shops in Dymchurch, so if you are stocking up on holiday gifts, bring an empty case.

Amusement Park

Dymchurch has it's own amusement park with free admission, so a great day for all the family with it's collection of rides.

Finally... Paul Nash

The artist Paul Nash moved to Dymchurch and created his paintings of the seawall and landscapes of Romney Marsh and a volume of wood engravings titled Places.
